My Mother-in-Law Loudly Suggested I ‘Stop Eating for Two’ at My Own Baby Shower – My Mom’s Response Made Her Run Out of Our House

After years of fertility treatments, I was finally celebrating the baby I had almost stopped believing in. Then my mother-in-law humiliated me at my own baby shower.
Brenda had criticized my appearance for years, but pregnancy made her worse. She commented on my weight, my clothes, and even the cake on my plate.
During the final toast, she raised her glass and said she hoped the baby inherited my husband’s metabolism. Then she joked that I should stop eating for two and visit the gym before Lucas became embarrassed to be seen with me.
Nobody laughed.
Lucas stood and called her cruel, but my mother calmly walked to the gift table and brought over a cedar box filled with letters.
Every guest had written something for our baby to read one day—family stories, advice, promises, and loving memories.
Then Mom handed Brenda the only blank envelope.
“What would you like your grandchild to remember about you?” she asked.
Brenda stared at the empty page while nearly fifty people watched. For once, she had no criticism or cutting remark. She folded the paper without writing anything and left.
Later, Lucas apologized for allowing her behavior for so long. He promised our child would never grow up believing that love sounded like criticism.
One day, our daughter will read every letter in that box.
When she reaches the blank one, she will already understand what real love looks like.
