Yan-Kay Crystal Lowe, 44, is an actor and director known for Final Destination 3, The L Word, and Hallmark’s Signed, Sealed, Delivered. A wife and mother of two, she made history as the first graduate of Hallmark’s Make Her Mark directing program and has since directed for Hallmark, Lifetime, and Roku.
In a personal essay, Lowe revealed she has been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. She first discovered a lump in February 2025, which was initially dismissed after clear imaging results. Months later, as the lump grew and her nipple inverted, further testing led to an urgent biopsy and a cancer diagnosis.
What she first believed was stage 2 was later confirmed as stage 3, requiring chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, radiation, and reconstruction. Overwhelmed but determined, Lowe found strength through her family, online cancer communities, and unexpected support from her Hallmark colleagues.
