The Day Karma Walked Into the Office

I walked into my boss’s office with my heart pounding, already bracing myself for bad news. My hands were still shaking from what Sarah had said the day before. I barely slept that night, replaying her words over and over.
My boss looked at me for a long moment, then said, “I heard what happened.”
My stomach dropped.
Before I could explain, he continued, “Several people reported Sarah. What she said was cruel… and completely unacceptable.”
I didn’t know what to say. I just sat there, stunned.
Then he surprised me.
“She’s been suspended pending further action,” he said. “And as for you… I want you to know we support you.”
I felt something crack inside me—but this time, it wasn’t pain. It was relief.
He reached into his drawer and handed me an envelope.
Inside was a small collection from my coworkers. Notes, cash, even gift cards. One note read, “For your mom. We’re rooting for you.”
I broke down crying right there in his office.
The same place I thought I might lose everything… became the place that reminded me not everyone is heartless.
Sarah wanted to tear me down at my lowest.
But instead, people lifted me up.
And that blanket?
I finished it.
Not for money.
For my mom. ❤️
