I (36F) have been married to my husband (42M) for three years. He has four kids from his previous marriage, and despite my efforts, they’ve always been distant with me.
After months of planning, we finally booked a romantic weekend at a beautiful beach villa in Malibu. It was expensive, but I wanted it to be special—private chef, couples massage, everything.
But shortly after we arrived, there was a knock at the door… and his kids showed up unannounced. They had flown in to “surprise” their dad.
Without even asking me, my husband welcomed them in. Just like that, our romantic weekend turned into a family trip. Our plans were canceled, and I felt completely sidelined.
