I Refuse to Stop Swimming Even Though Our Neighbor Hates It—Our Rules, Our Way

My partner and I spent years building our dream backyard pool. It’s our favorite way to unwind—especially late-night swims.

Our neighboring house was empty for years, but recently a new family moved in. We tried to be friendly, even invited them to dinner, but they kept their distance.

Then one day, the father came over angry, telling us to stop using our own pool because it was “immodest.” We thought he was joking—until the next day.

We noticed their son watching us from the balcony, holding a sign: “Can I come swim with you?”

We invited him over. He told us he loves swimming and dreams of becoming an athlete, but his father refuses to support it—even gets angry when he brings it up.

Feeling bad, we told him he’s welcome anytime.

Big mistake.

The next day, his father showed up furious, accusing us of feeding his son false hope. We stood our ground—it’s our property, and we’re not doing anything wrong.

He left angry, and now things feel tense.

We only wanted to be kind and support a kid with a passion.

But now we’re wondering… did we cross a line by going against his father’s wishes?
