On the anniversary of her death, my family gathered for dinner in her honor. I prepared her favorite meal and used the knife she had given me.<\/p>\n
After cooking, I left it on the counter while we ate. My mother-in-law offered to clear the dishes, but when I later returned to the kitchen, the knife was gone.<\/p>\n
She calmly admitted she had thrown it in the trash because it looked dangerous.<\/p>\n
I rushed to the bin and found it sitting on top. As I pulled it out, she smiled and said, \u201cI\u2019m helping you move on. You can\u2019t grieve properly while holding onto things like that.\u201d<\/p>\n
