A police officer was investigating a collision on a narrow, two-lane road where the drivers had nearly crashed head-on.
\nOne of the drivers, an elderly woman, kept repeating, \u201cHe wouldn\u2019t let me have my half of the road!\u201d<\/p>\n
After gathering all the details, the officer marched over to the other driver, who was inspecting the damage to his car.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat lady insists you wouldn\u2019t let her have her half of the road,\u201d the officer said. \u201cWhy not?\u201d<\/p>\n
With a frustrated sigh, the man turned away from his wrecked vehicle and replied, \u201cOfficer, I would have gladly given her half the road\u2014if only she had decided which half she wanted!\u201d<\/p>\n

The driver, obviously confused, says to him, \u201cOfficer, I don\u2019t understand. I was doing exactly the speed limit! What seems to be the problem?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cMa\u2019am,\u201d the officer replies, \u201cYou weren\u2019t speeding, but you should know that driving slower than the speed limit can also be a danger to other drivers.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cSlower than the speed limit?\u201d She asked. No, sir, I just kept the speed limit exactly\u2026 Twenty-two miles an hour! the old woman says a bit proudly.<\/p>\n
The State Police officer, trying to contain a chuckle, explains to her that \u201c22\u201d was the route number, not the speed limit.<\/p>\n
A bit embarrassed, the woman grinned and thanked the officer for pointing out her error.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut before I let you go, Ma\u2019am, I have to ask\u2026 Is everyone in this car ok?<\/p>\n
These women seem awfully shaken, and they haven\u2019t muttered a single peep this whole time,\u201d the officer asks.<\/p>\n
\u201cOh, they\u2019ll be alright in a minute, officer. We just got off Route 119.\u201d<\/p>\n
