After our mom passed away, my brother and I each inherited $90,000. My brother is childfree and decided to save his money. I have five kids and used my share quickly to cover living expenses, school needs, and other costs for my family.<\/p>\n

When the money ran out, I called him and demanded half of his. I told him my kids needed it more than he ever would. He hung up and cut contact completely. I was angry and hurt, especially when I struggled to cover my kids\u2019 school fees. In frustration, I even told my children that their uncle refused to help us.<\/p>\n

Two weeks later, everything changed.<\/p>\n

My oldest daughter came home with an envelope addressed to her. Inside was a letter explaining that my brother had opened education funds for all five of my kids. He had deposited $15,000 into each account \u2014 $75,000 in total, nearly his entire inheritance.<\/p>\n

The funds were locked until they go to college and would be managed by a trustee so I couldn\u2019t access the money.<\/p>\n

My kids were thrilled, but I felt ashamed. I had called him selfish, yet he quietly secured their futures.<\/p>\n
