I\u2019m using a throwaway because family reads my main. This situation has been bothering me, and I need outside perspective.<\/p>\n

A few months ago, my daughter-in-law was eight months pregnant and asked to borrow my late mother\u2019s diamond necklace for a maternity photoshoot. This necklace is extremely sentimental\u2014one of the few things I have left of my mom. I hesitated, but she promised to be careful and return it right after. Against my better judgment, I agreed.<\/p>\n

The photos turned out beautiful, and I waited a bit before asking for the necklace back. She kept brushing it off\u2014\u201csoon\u201d or \u201cnext time we meet.\u201d Last week, I finally went over and asked directly. She went to the bedroom and came back with an empty jewelry box, casually saying she had lent the necklace to her sister for a wedding.<\/p>\n

I was stunned. She gave away my mother\u2019s necklace without asking me, as if it were hers. I didn\u2019t argue\u2014I just left.<\/p>\n

That same day, I called my lawyer and rewrote my will, removing my son and daughter-in-law completely. I haven\u2019t told them or confronted her yet. I\u2019m still waiting to see if the necklace comes back intact.<\/p>\n
