I came home early from work expecting a quiet afternoon with my fianc\u00e9. Instead, I walked into my bedroom and found my future mother-in-law digging through my closet.<\/p>\n
Not organizing the hallway closet.<\/p>\n
Not dropping something off.<\/p>\n
My actual bedroom closet.<\/p>\n
She jumped when she saw me and casually said she was \u201cchecking to make sure I had enough hangers.\u201d<\/p>\n
I honestly thought I misheard her.<\/p>\n
When I confronted my fianc\u00e9 later, he shrugged and admitted his mom has a key to our house. Apparently, she comes by whenever she wants because she \u201chelps out sometimes.\u201d<\/p>\n
Helps out?<\/p>\n
Since when is going through someone\u2019s personal belongings considered helping?<\/p>\n
I told him this crossed a huge line and asked him to take the key back. Instead of understanding why I was upset, he acted like I was being dramatic and controlling.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, his mother hasn\u2019t apologized once. She actually told me I should feel \u201cgrateful\u201d that she cares enough to tidy up after us.<\/p>\n
The craziest part is that nobody in this family seems to understand why I feel violated.<\/p>\n
