\u201cNo way! No needles! I hate needles!\u201d the patient cried.<\/p>\n
So she put the syringe away and prepared the nitrous oxide mask instead.<\/p>\n
The man shook his head even harder.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo way! I can’t do the gas thing. The thought of having a mask on suffocates me!\u201d<\/p>\n
The dentist paused for a moment and asked, \u201cDo you have any objection to taking a pill?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cNone at all,\u201d the patient replied. \u201cI’m perfectly fine with pills.\u201d<\/p>\n
She stepped out for a minute and returned holding a single blue tablet.<\/p>\n
\u201cHere you go,\u201d she said. \u201cIt’s Viagra.\u201d<\/p>\n
The patient looked at it in surprise.<\/p>\n
\u201cWow! I didn’t know Viagra worked as a painkiller!\u201d<\/p>\n
The dentist smiled and said,<\/p>\n
\u201cIt doesn’t.\u201d<\/p>\n
The man looked confused. \u201cThen why are you giving it to me?\u201d<\/p>\n
She folded her arms and replied with a grin,<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause it’s going to give you something to hold onto while I stick that giant needle in your mouth.\u201d<\/p>\n
For a second there was complete silence.<\/p>\n
Then the dental assistant burst into laughter.<\/p>\n
The patient stared at the pill, stared at the needle, and finally sighed.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou know what? Maybe the needle isn’t so bad after all.\u201d<\/p>\n
The dentist chuckled, picked up the syringe, and said, \u201cThat’s exactly the reaction I was hoping for.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ten minutes later the procedure was over.<\/p>\n
