Just after I settled in, a server approached and asked if I would move. A large family had arrived, and the restaurant wanted to combine several tables\u2014including mine. The alternative was a cramped spot near the busy kitchen.<\/p>\n
For a moment, I felt pressured to agree. After all, it was just me. But then I realized my evening mattered too. I had arrived early, chosen my table, and deserved to enjoy it. Politely but firmly, I declined.<\/p>\n
