A Message from My Best Friend Exposed My Husband’s Secret

My husband and I had been together since I was 19 and he was 22. After years of dating, we married and built a family together. We already had two children, and I was six months pregnant with our third.
I trusted him completely. I also trusted my best friend, Claire, who had been beside me through every major moment of my life.
One morning, while I was awake with our three-year-old, my husband’s work alarm started ringing. I picked up his phone to silence it, and a message appeared on the screen.
It was from Claire.
“You still haven’t told her about us?”
My heart stopped.
His phone unlocked with the code we had always shared. Their conversation revealed months of secret meetings, emotional messages, and promises that they would eventually tell me everything.
But then I discovered something even more painful. The affair had started shortly before I became pregnant, and my husband had been quietly planning to leave after the baby was born.
I woke him and placed the phone in front of him. His face immediately changed.
He tried to apologize, but nothing he said could erase the betrayal. I packed a bag for myself and the children and went to my sister’s house.
Later, Claire called repeatedly, begging me to listen. I blocked her.
I didn’t know what my future would look like, but I knew one thing: my children deserved a mother who refused to stay where love had been replaced by lies.
