When my father passed away last year, he left me his house and a modest amount of savings. Losing him was devastating, but there was comfort in knowing he had made sure I wouldn’t struggle.
At the time, I had been with my partner for three years. We weren’t married and had always kept our finances separate. I often covered most of our shared expenses because money had never been his strength.

He grew distant, then defensive. He accused me of being cold and claimed that if I truly saw a future with him, I would share the inheritance.
