Entitled Guest Demanded a Free Table at ‘Her Friend’s’ Restaurant — Too Bad I Was the Owner

My family has owned our restaurant for generations, and even as the owner, I still work every job—from greeting guests to serving tables. One busy Friday night, a woman named Meghan arrived with five friends demanding a table, insisting she was “close friends with the owner.”

She threatened to have me fired when I politely explained we were fully booked. Instead of revealing who I was, I seated them in our VIP section and treated them like honored guests, even covering their first three rounds of drinks.

Feeling important, they ordered our finest menu items—A5 Wagyu, caviar, truffle risotto, oysters, lobster, premium champagne—never once asking the prices. Throughout the night, they mocked restaurant staff and bragged about how easy it was to manipulate service workers.

When I presented the bill—over $4,200—panic set in. Meghan suddenly claimed the food was terrible, demanded a huge discount, and once again insisted she was friends with the owner, even showing fake text messages as “proof.”

That’s when I quietly placed my business card on the table.

“I’m Peter,” I said. “I’m the owner.”

The room went silent.

She accused me of tricking them, but I reminded her they had willingly ordered every item. Faced with paying or involving the police, she reluctantly paid the full bill.

As they left, I smiled and said, “Next time you claim to know the owner… make sure he isn’t the one serving your table.”
