My Husband Went on Vacation Just Days Before My Scheduled C-Section With Our Twins – When He Came Home, His Knees Were Shaking

After years of fertility treatments and two miscarriages, I finally became pregnant with twin girls.
Four days before my scheduled C-section, my husband Trevor announced he was leaving for a five-day beach trip with friends.
“One last vacation before life gets crazy,” he said.
I could barely walk.
My doctor had already told him I would need help after surgery.
Trevor went anyway.
While he posted beach photos, I delivered our daughters with my mother beside me.
Recovery was brutal.
When I came home, I called someone Trevor hadn’t spoken to in nearly 12 years.
His father, Frank.
Trevor always said Frank had abandoned him before he was born.
But when Frank heard what happened, he came immediately.
He sterilized bottles, finished the bassinet, helped with the babies, and never asked for praise.
When Trevor finally returned, tan and smiling, he froze.
His estranged father was sitting in Trevor’s favorite chair holding one of his daughters.
Trevor snapped, “You don’t get to judge me.”
Frank calmly replied, “You’re right. But I know exactly what story you’re telling yourself. The babies won’t remember you leaving.”
Then he looked at me.
“Your wife will.”
That week, Trevor finally learned what fatherhood actually meant.
Later, he apologized.
I handed him a burp cloth.
“Changing diapers isn’t your apology,” I told him. “It’s your responsibility.”
Weeks later, his friends invited him on another beach trip.
Trevor looked at our daughters and replied:
“Already exactly where I want to be.”
