Trump Reacts to Zohran Mamdani’s NYC Mayoral Victory

**Zohran Mamdani’s Historic NYC Mayoral Victory**

At 34, Zohran Mamdani made history as New York City’s first Muslim and South Asian mayor, defeating Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa with over 1.03 million votes—more than his rivals combined. Voter turnout exceeded 2 million, the highest in over 50 years.

Tensions with Donald Trump ran high pre-election. In June, Trump called Mamdani a “pure communist” on Fox News and threatened to withhold federal funds on Truth Social if he won, urging support for Cuomo.

In his November 4 victory speech, Mamdani fired back:
> “New York is built by immigrants, powered by immigrants, and now led by an immigrant. If any city can show a nation misled by Donald Trump how to beat him, it’s the city that made him.”

He added defiantly: “Donald Trump, since I know you’re watching—turn the volume up!”

Trump responded cryptically on Truth Social:
> “…AND SO IT BEGINS!”

The ambiguous post, amid prior threats of funding cuts or deportation, sparked speculation of political retaliation. Mamdani’s win signals a progressive shift and likely showdown with Trump.
