y Ex-husband Ripped off the Wallpaper After Our Divorce Because ‘He Paid for It’ – Karma Had a Joke in Store for Him

My ex-husband, Dan, once called his affairs “harmless fun.” Eight years of marriage, two kids, a home I inherited from my grandmother — and he cheated. Twice.

After the second betrayal, I snapped. Divorce papers were signed, full custody of Emma and Jack secured, and I gave him a week to pack.

When I returned with the kids, the living room walls were bare — he’d stripped the floral wallpaper I loved. The kitchen? Utensils gone. The coffee maker? Missing. Even toilet paper vanished.

He claimed it was “his” because he bought it. I just shook my head, left the house with the kids, and let him stew.

Six months later, karma knocked. I was walking downtown when I saw him holding hands with my book club friend — Cassie. My jaw dropped.

“Oh my gosh, hey!” she said, beaming. “This is Dan — my fiancé!”

I smiled faintly. “Yeah. I know.”

Cassie’s eyes widened as realization hit. “Wait… that story you told at book club… the wallpaper one… that was him?”

Dan went pale. She stormed off, leaving him staring dumbstruck, the engagement ring dangling from her hand.

That evening, tucking my kids into bed, Jack asked about the old wallpaper.

“I’m glad we picked out the new ones together,” he said, grinning. Emma nodded enthusiastically. “And my butterflies are the prettiest ever!”

I looked around our colorful walls — chosen together, as a family of three. Walls that told our story, not Dan’s.

Sometimes, you don’t need to chase revenge. Just give karma time — it has a wicked sense of humor.
