the mother of Savannah Guthrie has been reported missing in Arizona under what authorities described as “concerning circumstances.

Authorities in southern Arizona are searching for Nancy Guthrie, 84, who was last seen around 9:30 p.m. Saturday at her home in the Catalina Foothills, north of Tucson. Investigators later confirmed she is the mother of Savannah Guthrie, co-anchor of Today.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Office said Guthrie is not in good physical health and has been classified as a vulnerable adult. A relative called 911 around noon Sunday to report her missing.

Sheriff Chris Nanos described the situation as highly concerning. Deputies have launched a large search-and-rescue effort, and homicide detectives were seen processing the home — a move officials noted is not typical in routine missing-person cases.

While Guthrie is considered of sound mind and not known to have dementia, authorities worry that mobility limitations and cold overnight temperatures could place her at risk. Savannah Guthrie has not yet commented publicly.
