I Refuse to Sleep Under the Same Roof as My Stepson — My Daughter’s Safety Comes First

I live with my husband, my daughter, and my stepson. After we got married, my daughter became quiet and distant. She kept saying she was fine—but I knew something wasn’t right.

One night, I overheard my stepson in her room saying, “I’ll take whatever I want. You’re not going anywhere.” I froze.

Turns out, he’d been mocking and belittling her for months.

I was ready to kick him out immediately. But my husband stopped me. That’s when I said, “If you won’t protect her, I will. I’ll leave—and I’m taking her with me.”

That night, he finally confronted his son.

My daughter looked relieved… but I still don’t feel at peace.

Because I don’t know if this will really stop—or just go quiet for a while.

Has anyone dealt with something like this? How do you actually make sure it ends for good?
