The Call I Never Made—But Somehow Already Happened

Late one quiet night, I heard a faint rustling outside my window. It wasn’t loud enough to cause panic, but it was enough to make me uneasy. In the silence, every little sound felt amplified, so I grabbed my phone and called the police.
What happened next left me speechless.
The dispatcher calmly said, “You already called.”
Confused, I insisted this was my first call. After a brief pause, he explained that just minutes earlier, someone had phoned from my number, reporting the exact same noise outside the same window.
A chill ran through me. I knew I hadn’t made any previous call.
The dispatcher assured me that officers were already on their way and advised me to stay inside. His calm voice helped, but I couldn’t stop wondering how such a thing was possible. The house remained silent as I waited, replaying his words over and over.
By morning, there were no signs of anyone outside and no explanation for what had happened. Everything looked perfectly normal.
Yet the mystery has never left me. Sometimes I still think about that strange phone call and wonder if some moments in life are meant to remind us to trust our instincts—even when logic can’t explain them. Some questions remain unanswered, and perhaps that’s what makes them impossible to forget.
