David Wilburn Parton, the older brother of country music legend Dolly Parton, passed away peacefully at his home in White Pine, Tennessee, at age 82.
His sister Stella Parton announced the news in a heartfelt social media tribute, saying David had earned his angel wings and thanking fans for their condolences.
The second of twelve children born to Robert Lee and Avie Lee Parton, David grew up in a modest cabin in Tennessee’s Great Smoky Mountains. Unlike several of his famous siblings, he chose a quiet life away from entertainment.
David worked for many years as a bridge-building superintendent for Simpson Construction, helping complete major infrastructure projects across East Tennessee.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kay, his daughters Donna and Dena, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several siblings, including Dolly and Stella.
David was remembered for his devotion to family, hardworking nature, and the lasting bridges he helped build.
