The “Test” My Sister Immediately Regretted

When my younger sister, Brooke, suddenly lost her apartment after a breakup, my husband and I offered her our spare room.
She had almost no savings, so we told her to stay until she found steady work.
At first, everything was fine.
Then Brooke developed an irritating morning habit.
After showering, she would walk through the kitchen wearing only a towel while my husband, Matt, was usually sitting there having coffee.
I asked her privately to put on a robe.
She laughed.
“You trust your husband, don’t you?”
“That isn’t the point.”
But she kept doing it.
Eventually, Brooke admitted she was doing it intentionally.
“Think of it as a test,” she said. “If Matt looks, you’ll know what kind of man you married.”
I was furious.
When I told Matt, he looked annoyed but said he didn’t want to create drama between sisters.
Three mornings later, Brooke came downstairs in the towel again.
This time, Matt didn’t leave.
He quietly opened his phone.
“Brooke, remember how you said this was a test?”
She smiled.
“Yep.”
“Great.”
Then he opened our family group chat and typed:
“House rule update: Guests need to be fully dressed in shared rooms. Anyone who refuses will need another place to stay.”
Brooke’s face turned bright red.
“You’re seriously posting that?”
Matt looked at her.
“You wanted a test. Mine is whether someone respects my wife after she says she’s uncomfortable.”
The room went silent.
Brooke disappeared upstairs.
Later that afternoon, she apologized to both of us.
She bought a robe the next day.
And somehow, the “test” was never mentioned again.
