My Aunt Slipped Grandma’s Diamond Ring Off Her Finger on Her Deathbed — Two Days After the Funeral, a Package Arrived That Made Her Turn Pale

Grandma was still breathing when my Aunt Linda slipped the diamond ring off her finger. I saw it happen. Grandma saw it too—but she didn’t stop her.

The ring was famous in our family: a vintage two-carat diamond Grandpa bought after WWII. Linda had wanted it for years.

At hospice, while we were saying goodbye, Linda leaned over to “kiss” Grandma. In one smooth motion, the ring disappeared into her cardigan pocket. Grandma opened her eyes, looked at me, then at Linda, and gave a sad little smile. She never said a word. Twenty minutes later, she passed away.

Linda cried the loudest at the funeral—while the stolen ring sat in her pocket.

Two days later, a courier delivered a package Grandma had arranged before her death. Inside was a velvet pouch and a letter. Linda opened it proudly… until she read the first line.

Grandma had seen everything.

In the letter, she revealed the truth: the real diamond had been sold ten years earlier to pay for Linda’s rehab. The ring Linda stole contained only a glass stone.

Grandma also left instructions for me. A small account meant for funeral costs was to be protected with two signatures—mine and my mother’s—so Linda could never touch it.

At Sunday dinner, I read both letters aloud.

For the first time, Linda finally admitted the truth.

Grandma knew exactly how to expose it.
