My 12-Year-Old Daughter Cut Off Her Hair for a Girl with Cancer – Then the Principal Called and Said, ‘You Need to Come Now and See What Happened with Your Own Eyes’

When the school called about strange men asking for my daughter, I thought I was about to lose something else. Instead, I found something I never expected.

The night before, my daughter Letty had cut off her own hair—to help a classmate with cancer who was being bullied. She wanted to donate it for a wig.

The next day, six men showed up at her school asking for her by name. They were my late husband’s coworkers.

Inside the office, I saw my daughter standing beside her classmate—now wearing the wig. On the desk sat my husband’s old hard hat.

Then they handed me a letter.

My husband had started a fund at work to help families struggling with cancer. After hearing what Letty did, his coworkers knew it was time to pass it on.

They brought a check for the girl’s family.

And a message from him:

“If my girls ever forget who I tried to be… remind them by how you show up.”

In that moment, I realized something powerful.

My husband hadn’t come back.

But through my daughter’s kindness… his love had.
