Hospital Locked Down After Active Shooter Report

Early Thursday morning, Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital, about 24 miles north of Detroit, was thrown into chaos after reports of an active shooter around 7 a.m. Authorities quickly responded, issuing a shelter-in-place order while hospital staff barricaded themselves as the situation unfolded.
The incident left a 25-year-old man injured after being shot twice in the arm. He received medical treatment and is currently in stable condition. According to police, the shooting was a targeted attack between two employees, not a random act of violence.
Investigators say the gunman, also a hospital employee, fired five shots in the parking garage, with one bullet striking a nearby vehicle. The suspect fled the scene immediately after the shooting but was later taken into custody.
While the situation initially sparked fears of a broader active shooter threat, authorities later clarified that it was an isolated incident tied to a personal dispute between the individuals involved.
The hospital was placed on lockdown as a precaution, and emergency alerts urged people to avoid the area. Thanks to the rapid response from law enforcement and hospital staff, the situation was contained, and operations eventually resumed.
