My husband’s 19-year-old daughter already has two children by different men and is pregnant again. She constantly depends on her father financially, and I was tired of watching him pour our savings into rescuing her from every bad decision.
I warned him: if he wouldn’t set boundaries, I would.
So, behind his back, I emptied our shared savings account and bought a flat. My thinking was simple — if the money was tied up in property, he couldn’t keep wasting it on her. I believed our salaries were enough to cover our normal life anyway.
A few days later, I walked into our bedroom and found all my clothes packed in boxes. My husband had left a note: “If you want to make decisions alone, you can live alone too — in the flat you bought.”
Then his daughter called screaming, “You can’t expect my dad to abandon his only daughter!”
Now my husband barely speaks to me, and I’m devastated. I truly believed I was protecting our future, not destroying my marriage.
