My Ex-husband’s Fiancée Demanded I Change My Last Name Back to My Maiden Name – I Agreed, but Only on One Condition

When my ex-husband’s fiancée showed up at my house demanding I change my last name, I honestly thought she was joking.
She wasn’t.
After 12 years of marriage and three children together, I kept my married name for one reason only: my kids. It had nothing to do with my ex-husband. But apparently his 26-year-old fiancée couldn’t handle the fact that we shared both the same first name and last name.
So she marched into my home and gave me a deadline.
“You have one year to change it before the wedding,” she said.
I stared at her in disbelief before calmly answering:
“Fine. But only if you change your first name first.”
The look on her face was priceless.
I explained that if she expected me to give up the name I shared with my children, then she should understand how ridiculous it was to demand someone change part of their identity simply for her comfort.
Things escalated quickly after that.
She accused me of being jealous. I reminded her I divorced him years ago and had no interest in competing for a man I willingly left behind.
Eventually, my ex called to apologize after hearing the full story. Even she later admitted she crossed a line.
A few months later, they broke up.
And honestly? Life became peaceful again.
