A Woman’s Grandma Saved $1,000 for Her Every Year – When She Went to Withdraw It, the Teller Said, ‘Your Mother Took It All Months Ago’

My grandmother saved $1,000 for me every birthday. After she died, I visited the bank and discovered my mother had emptied the account. Then I realized where the money had gone.

Mom abandoned me at four and started another family. Grandma raised me, sacrificing everything to give me a better future.

Every birthday, she deposited $1,000 into my savings.

“Don’t touch it until I’m gone,” she’d say.

When Grandma became ill, I paused nursing school to care for her.

Mom refused to help.

After the funeral, I visited the bank.

The teller looked uncomfortable.

“Your mother withdrew everything months ago.”

I remembered Mom’s new car, my half-sisters’ expensive laptops, and their shopping trips.

She’d used Grandma’s savings!

Instead of confronting her immediately, I contacted my sisters, Lena and Phoebe.

They were horrified.

Mom had told them Grandma left her money. She’d also spent years telling us lies to keep us apart.

Together, we confronted her.

“You had Grandma,” Mom argued. “My other daughters deserved something too.”

I couldn’t believe her.

“Grandma raised me because you wouldn’t!”

My sisters offered to sell their laptops.

I refused.

“You’re not responsible for her choices.”

Four days later, Mom called.

“I’m selling the car to repay you.”

I agreed, but forgiveness wasn’t automatic.

Grandma’s money could eventually be replaced. The childhood Mom stole from us never could.
